Sabahans, losers...sigh..

Guong
Labelling such politicians as people who did not succeed in their attempt to get what they wanted, Musa, who is also the Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman, said if the Sabah people followed the principles of such leaders, they would only end up at the losing end.DE
Sabahan already at the losing end. We lose our resources (timber, oil and gas), we lose our land (Tingkayu is not the first to happen in Kunak), we lose our right as indigenous people of Sabah to the 'new Malay' aka Illegal Immigrants. I wonder which leaders is our CM is refering to. He might be looking at a mirror while saying such remark.

"These political leaders always get angry and criticise the Federal Government although Sabah has already been given a RM20 billion allocation under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (RMK-9). If the Federal Government gives RM20 billion, how can we be angry?DE
When was this allocation given? When did Sabah become the last (almost) in all aspects compare to other states in Malaysia? And this RM20 billion allocation, have anything started yet? Let say, SDC? How about solving the citizenship problems in Sabah? NONE!

And saying we should not be angry after nothing have been done? Just because we are given the largest sum of fund, it doesn't meant a thing if it stay as an 'allocation'. Spent it wisely for the benefit of Sabahan. Oh, I forgot about the corruptness of our leader!!

And this is not the first time Sabah gets a hand on huge allocation. Yet we are still losers!!

SDC, now MSC...??!

Guong

Sabah is going for cyber development. Wow, nice plan...or..?

KOTA KINABALU, Jan 28 — The State government is expected to submit the Sabah Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) Plan within the next three months, an initiative to spur the state’s information and communication technology (ICT) industry. The Malaysian Insider..
So, how's Sabah state government going to make it happen?

“We have a little bit of money still for the last two years, so I’m hoping they (Sabah government) can submit the MSC Plan within the next three months, in order to fit into the various economic packages by the government,” he told reporters after launching Universiti Malaysia Sabah’s (UMS) research directory, here, today. The Malaysian Insider..
Great, but wait a minute, what about SDC? Have it started yet? What is Sabah state government priority? I'm confused. And 'have a little bit of money for the last two years'? Does that mean for the last two years, they kept the money instead of investing it on Sabah development? No wonder Sabah state yearly budget always has big numbers yet small development.

I'm not against this MSC plan. It's good, I know. But how is it going to became reality when in truth, Sabah basic infrastructures such as road, power grid, school etc are far from complete. Shouldn't they improve these need first? Even if MSC were to be done, it will only benefit those who are in a more urban area. What about the rural folks?

Speaking of which, SDC is still 'static' in term of implementation. Actually a lot of the plan are still in 'static' mode such as the allocation promised to solve the Illegal Immigrants issues.

And this MSC plan for Sabah is no new plan. It was already proposed back in 2004. read here

I can't help but wonder, how do they come out with these development plans for Sabah.

Sabah State Budget 2009.....(2008??)

Guong

The complete speech of Sabah state budget for 2009 is published here.
It 'sounds' nice, except for the deficit amounting RM 208 million. 2009 budget is the biggest (RM2,778.81 billion) yet and it really worries me.

Why? Every Sabahan know why. Corruption. Yes, a plague that have taken roots so deep that it somehow seems legal and practiced 'openly'. But, that's another topic.

But before that, what happen to the 2008 budget? Was it a success or 'suck'cess? The main agenda for 2008 budget was Sabah Development Corridor (SDC) and it's still in the 'management' phase, yet to reach the 'implementation' stage. Let's not forget about Sabah power shortage and the incident that cause almost the whole state to 'blackout'. And I didn't find anything in this 2009 budget that is related on improving Sabah power grid managment. Or was it not included as it is less important? Or is it 100% on SESB alone to improve it?

All I can say is 2008 budget was a failure if SDC is to be the benchmark. For 2009? it's still to early to make a conclusion but base on Sabah track records, it's more likely to be a 'beautiful budget' yet again. With a lot more to spend by the rakyat? I hope so even though its more to 'hopeless'....sigh..

kick starting "Sabah Development Corridor"

Guong

Everyone knows about SDC. It was one of the development corridor projects that have been planned by the government before the 12th G.E. It was such a hype back then. To gain the rakyat vote, maybe?

But, that was then, what about the present? Where is SDC currently? In progress or....?
Recently, MP YB Datuk Ghapur raised this SDC issue in the parliament. He was asking for an explanation on why the SDC has yet to see any implementation even though it was launch last year. But, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Senator Datuk Amirsham Aziz refuse to answer the question or maybe he actually doesn't even have any answer. I think you can guess what happen next in this session of parliament.

Our PM also made an announcement concerning these corridors project.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said that the government will shelve some of the projects to weather the global economic slowdown, including those that are in the economic corridors. Malaysia Today
If you doesn't trust alternative media, click this link> Utusan

But then, Najib said that everything (development corridors project) was doing just fine. He was saying this in the recent launching of the Sabah International Expo in Kota Kinabalu. 1st article. 2nd article. In the 2nd article, this line caught my attention.

To kick start the SDC, the Federal Government allocated another RM5 billion to upgrade the state’s infrastructure.
Another RM5 billion and yet any progress on the SDC by our State Government? No wonder Datuk Ghapur raise this issue.

So, which is which? SDC was already launch since last year yet not a single 'sand' was moved in term of implementation. What is our CM doing since the SDC was supposed to be under his jurisdiction? Then Najib says everything is doing just fine but Pak Lah is going to review which project should be postpone or 'shelve'. Will it be SDC? Judging by the current world economy, the option wouldn't be good one.

To our leader, walk the talk please.
